RALEIGH, N.C. — Excelsior Packaging Group, which makes flexible plastic packaging, is creating 110 jobs and investing $20 million over three years as it opens a new plant in Transylvania County.
The facility will be the first in North Carolina for the Yonkers, N.Y.-based company. It will make a new food packaging product line called SteamFast, which buyers can use to steam-cook food in microwave ovens.
Gov. Mike Easley's office said new new jobs will be primarily skilled production positions paying an average of $534 a week, plus benefits.
