BURLINGTON, N.C. — A hazardous materials team is on the scene of a traffic accident that has blocked Interstate 40 west and Interstate 85 south at milemarker 140.
The state Highway Patrol says a tractor-trailer overturned, spilling six barrels of an unidentified hazardous material.
Department of Transportation officials say motorists traveling south on I-85 just west of Burlington should expect delays through the area. Traffic is being detoured at Huffman Mill Road to U.S. 70 West to University Drive back to I-85.
