RTI Gets 45-Day Extension On Iraq Contract

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The U.S. Agency for International Development has given a 45-day contract extension to Research Triangle Institute to promote local government and democracy in Iraq.

The original contract was scheduled to end Thursday.

The agency asked for proposals on a new but related two-year contract in November, with bids due by January. But, a spokeswoman said, the selection process continues.

RTI spokesman Patrick Gibbons says that its staff in Iraq now is providing training to new Iraqi provincial council members who were elected in January, and providing comparative examples to ministries on constitutional development.

RTI is based in Research Triangle Park.
