CORAL GABLES, FLA. — Frank Haith will be Miami's new basketball coach after three seasons as an assistant at Texas.

Haith was to be introduced by Miami athletic director Paul Dee at a news conference Monday.

Haith replaces Perry Clark, who was fired last month after two consecutive losing seasons.

Clark went 64-55 overall in four years. But he was 25-33 the past two -- hardly what Miami was looking for when it built a $48 million on-campus arena that opened in 2002.

Haith, 38, has been an assistant at Wake Forest, Texas A&M, Penn State, UNC-Wilmington and Elon, his alma mater.

The Hurricanes will begin their first season of competition in the Atlantic Coast Conference next season.
