— Three people were killed Wednesday morning in a wreck on Interstate 95 near the Halifax and Nash county line.

Highway Patrol officials say the one-vehicle accident happened around 5:40 a.m. in the southbound lanes near mile marker 152.

The vehicle went off the road to the right and collided with a bridge.

Driver Henry Logan, his wife Hillary Logan and an adopted daughter, Ranquea Salmon, all died.

The fourth passenger, adopted daughter Lesing Robinson, survived and was flown to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville where she is in stable condition.

The family was from Lauder Hill, Florida.

The investigation is continuing, but it appears the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
