State Bureau of Investigation
is looking into allegations ofinappropriate sexual conduct between staff and prisoners at the
NorthCarolina Correctional Institution for Women
Department of Correction
spokeswoman Pam Walker says theallegations first surfaced six weeks ago. The department conductedan internal investigation and asked the SBI for assistance.
SBI. agents arrived at the prison Thursday to conduct interviews.Assistant Prison Superintendent Michael Ledford says it is thefirst such investigation in recent memory at the prison.
Walker says the allegations this time involve more than oneinmate and more than one staff member.
