— With four weeks remaining in the Arena Football League's 15th anniversary season, the second-year Carolina Cobras control their own playoff destiny. The Cobras currently hold a 1/2 game lead in the National Conference Eastern Division and travel north of the border to face the Toronto Phantoms this Saturday, June 30, 3 p.m. at Air Canada Centre. The game will be broadcast locally on UPN (Channel 28) with Trey Bender and Tony Haynes calling the action.

Carolina (6-4) holds a slim half-game lead over the Buffalo Destroyers (6-5) in the Eastern Division. Toronto (4-6) and New York (4-6) are two games back but are still in the hunt for one of 12 playoff spots that are available in the Arena Football League post-season. Heading into this week's action, the Cobras are ranked No. 8 with four games remaining.

Twelve of the AFL's 19 teams will qualify for the post-season with the leagues top four teams (based on record) receiving a first round bye. The fifth through eighth seeds will play host to a home playoff game. According the league rules, each division winner is guaranteed at least one home playoff game, regardless of overall record. The Cobras hold the edge in the Eastern Division by defeating Buffalo twice and New York once. Carolina travels to New York to face the Dragons next Saturday, July 7, 3 p.m. and hosts Los Angeles (July 13) and Toronto (July 20) in consecutive weeks to close out the season.

Fans are encouraged to come out to Rudinos Rooftop (corner of Strickland and Six Forks in North Raleigh) on Saturday to watch the game with Cobras reserve players, staff and Bud Light Snake Charmers. The Cobras promotional team will have numerous ticket and merchandise giveaways.
