Area High School Graduation Season Begins

RALEIGH, N.C. — There is good news for local schools: Area districts are celebrating graduation season.

Seventeen Wake County High Schools will graduate 6,500 students between now and Sunday.

Middle Creek High School goes first Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the BTI Center.

System-wide, the class of 2005 earned more than $36.6 million in scholarship money.

Wake County Graduation Schedule

The pomp and circumstance is already under way in Durham.

Hillside High seniors were the first of a record 1,729 graduates to turn their tassels.

All of Durham's class of 2005 will cap off their high school careers with commencement exercises at Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Riverside High will hold its ceremony at 2 p.m. Wednesday, followed by Durham School of the Arts at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Thursday's schedule includes Northern High at 10 a.m., Southern High at 2 p.m. and Jordan High at 7 p.m.
