RALEIGH — Nearly 700 people were arrested during the first three days of this year's ``Booze It and Lose It'' campaign.

The Governor's Highway Safety Program reported the numbers last night. This is the tenth year of the campaign and this time it will last through January Second.

Counties with the highest driving-while-impaired totals during the first days of the campaign included Mecklenburg with 55 arrests, followed by Wake with 51, and Robeson with 36.

Buncombe and Cabarrus counties each posted 25 D-W-I arrests.

A total of nearly 16-thousand traffic and criminal citations had been issued through last night.
