Voters Get Another Chance To Weigh In On Alcohol Sales In Barbecue

Posted Updated

HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — There will be another chance to bring beer to Barbecue.

The Harnett County township held a referendum in January to allow beer and wine sales, but the roads were so bad after the ice storm that they closed the polls after just three hours.

On Monday, the State Board of Elections set a new referendum date of March 2.

The polls will open at 9:50 a.m. -- the exact time they closed in January. Officials said the 15 votes that were cast will count.
