2 People Shot By Durham Officer Arrested On Multiple Charges

DURHAM, N.C. — Two people injured by a Durham police officer in a department store parking lot Friday are now facing several assault and prescription fraud charges.

Durham police said Mickel Mobley and his wife Kimberly tried to fill a fake prescription at a SuperTarget on Renaissance Parkway early Friday afternoon. Investigators said the officer shot them in the parking lot as they attempted to flee.

    Both were treated for minor injuries and released to police.

    Mickel Mobley was charged with assault with a deadly weapon on a government official and resisting a public officer, police said. Kimberly Mobley was charged with obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery.

    Mickel Mobley was released on $25,000 bond late Friday night. Kimberly Mobley remains in jail pending extradition to Virginia on a warrant for obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery.
