CLAYTON, N.C. — Halloween took a tragic turn in Johnston County Tuesday evening when a child was hit by a car in Clayton.
Authorities said Tasha Baker and her 5-year-old son, Kolby, were crossing Highway 42 West near the West Clayton Church of God shortly before 7 p.m. when the vehicle struck the child.
Kolby suffered major injuries and was taken to WakeMed. Authorities said the driver of the car won't face any charges.
