Teen Wounded In Shooting At Fayetteville Mall

Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Managers of a Fayetteville shopping mall stepped up security Monday after a teen was shot Sunday night.

Crystal Anderson, 18, was shot near the Journey Kids store at Cross Creek Mall, police said. Anderson was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she is listed in stable condition.

Investigators have detained one person for questioning, but no charges have been filed in the shooting. Police haven't determined whether a gun accidentally discharged or whether the shooting was intentional.

The mall closed an hour early Sunday because of the incident but was operating on a normal schedule Monday.

Managers insisted customers are safe at Cross Creek Mall, but some shoppers said they are more wary following the shooting.
