RDU Advises Passengers To Call Airlines Before Arriving At Airport

Posted Updated

MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Due to winter weather, Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority officials advise passengers with travel plans Monday to contact their airline reservation number for flight information before leaving for the airport.

The continuing storm has resulted in airline cancellations and delays. Airline reservation numbers can be found on the airport's

Web site

.

During a snowstorm, the airport adheres to a snow and ice control plan containing detailed regulations for how airports handle snow, ice and slush. The plan is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Airports are responsible for maintaining clear airport roadways, runways and taxiways while airlines are responsible for clearing snow and ice from their aircraft gate ramp areas.

During a winter storm flights may be delayed or cancelled for many reasons even if there are no operating problems at the traveler's home-base airport. Some of these reasons include operating conditions at other airports, system wide flight rescheduling and other airline operating considerations.
