RALEIGH, N.C. — An immigration judge ruled Tuesday that a former North Carolina State diving coach can stay in the country.
John Candler was going to be deported in 1998 for failing to disclose a 1966 child molestation conviction on his application for citizenship.
Candler resigned from his job at N.C. State in December after a Michigan woman informed the school about the old case.
Despite the judge's decision, the government can appeal.
