HOKE COUNTY, N.C. — An independent consulting firm said the Hoke County Jail is plagued with overcrowding problems.
The firm recommended the county expand its 71-bed jail to 250 beds or build a new facility to fix the situation.
After four inmates escaped in October, two more jailers were hired. Other safety measures may also be added.
Currently, there are no plans for a new jail.
