Infant Allegedly Abused By Bragg Soldier Out Of Hospital

Posted Updated

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — The infant son of a Fort Bragg soldier is home from the hospital.

Cumberland County deputies said John Murphy shook the baby so hard earlier in January that he nearly killed him.

The child's mother rushed the 9-week-old to the hospital where doctors performed emergency surgery.

The father is in jail, charged with attempted murder and child abuse. The boy's mother is not considered a suspect.
