FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier charged with abusing his infant son made his first court appearance Wednesday.
Cumberland County deputies said John Murphy shook his 9-week-old son so hard, he almost killed the baby.
The infant has been upgraded to fair condition. The infant's mother is not considered a suspect in the case.
Murphy is being held on $200,000 bond.
