State Gives Go-Ahead To Greene County Prison Plan

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The state is moving ahead with plans to build a new maximum security prison in Greene County.

The state's top elected officials voted in favor of the project Tuesday and took control of the land. The vote passed in spite of concerns about business dealings behind the sale of the land.

The state Attorney General is looking into possible ties between the land owner and Department of Corrections officials.
