Tractor-Trailer Driver Charged With I-95 Wreck

Posted Updated

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — A truck driver is charged with causing a Tuesday evening accident that tied up rush-hour traffic in Johnston County.

Authorities said a white truck was traveling south on Interstate 95 near mile marker 98, followed by a second vehicle, a flat-bed tractor trailer. The third vehicle, a blue tractor-trailer, failed to slow down and hit the cars in front.

Officials said the blue tractor-trailer veered off to the left to avoid the flat-bed trailer ahead, but it caused the flat-bed trailer to jack-knife, which ultimately ended up parked diagonally on I-95, blocking much of the traffic.

The Highway Patrol has charged the driver of the blue tractor-trailer with following too closely.
