FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A section of Interstate 95 in Cumberland County is back open after a tractor-trailer accident.

The accident happened at around 11:45 p.m. Monday in the southbound lanes near the exit to Highway 87.

Investigators said the tractor-trailer driver lost control of his vehicle after swerving to avoid an animal. His truck was carrying 36,000 gallons of formaldehyde. None of the material spilled, but fuel did spill from the truck.

Both southbound lanes were closed for several hours. The ramp onto I-95 from Highway 87 is still closed to traffic.

No one was hurt.
