RALEIGH, N.C. — The state auditor's office hopes a way of spending money at some state universities will spread through the entire University of North Carolina system.
Employees at the state's larger universities, like N.C. State University and UNC-Chapel Hill, use state credit cards to make supply purchases.
A new audit found the system saves red tape and money because banks offer rebates.
The state auditor believes expanding the cards to all state schools could save $300,000 to several millions of dollars.
