SANFORD, N.C. — Police have recaptured an escaped inmate from the Sanford Correctional Center.
Everett Lee Petty, 38, of Sanford, was in jail for violation of a protection order.
The correctional facility's superintendent says he was discovered missing at midnight during the count.
It is believed he scaled the fence and fled on foot.
Sanford police caught up with him about 4:45 a.m.
