RAEFORD, N.C. — A troubled jail is getting some new help.
The Hoke County Board of Commissioners hired two new jailers to work at its county jail.
The decision was a direct response to the escape of four inmates in October.
Other safety measures may also be added.
The state threatened to shut down the jail after an unannounced inspection found it was crowded and understaffed.
