Autopsy Reports Confirm Four Nash Victims Were Shot To Death

Posted Updated

NASH COUNTY, N.C. — Autopsy results show all four people found dead in Nash County this weekend were shot to death.

Preliminary autopsy reports show all four victims -- Charlene Lynch, her 10-year-old son Darwood, her friend, Larry Lynch and his uncle, Curly Lynch -- were shot in the head. Medical examiners say Charlene Lynch was also shot in the chest and had severe blows to the head.

A passer-by alerted authorities Sunday morning after seeing a body in the yard of the home in the Aventon community. Authorities believe the suspect shot the victims in the home. They also believe Darwood may have run outside to escape.

Counselors were on hand Monday at Darwood's school as the news spread to them.

"They all have questions, as we all do," said Beth Lucas, principal at Swift Creek Elementary School. "It's going to be a slow process. It's going to take a long time, but yes, I feel good about the sessions that we have had today."

Larry Lynch was scheduled to appear in court in January for communicating threats against another man, but authorities do not know if that had something to do with Lynch's death.

There are no arrests yet, but the sheriff says they are looking at possible suspects. The Sheriff's Office is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case.
