Suspect In August Murder Turns Self In To Raleigh Police

RALEIGH, N.C. — A man who has been sought by Raleigh police for nearly four months on murder charges turned himself in to the Raleigh Police Department's Major Crimes Task Force at approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Mario Antonio Smith faces murder charges in connection with

the death of Lincoln Hayes Sutton,

31, who was shot to death at 204 Idlewild Avenue around 1 a.m. on Aug. 12.

Investigators believe Smith shot Sutton twice -- once in the chest and once in the thigh. Smith has been a suspect since the morning after the shooting.
