Van Damaged After Hitting Boulder In Middle Of Road In North Raleigh

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Little rocks bouncing up, dinging windshields, is a hazard of roadways. A Louisburg man said he experienced a much larger problem in north Raleigh Monday afternoon.

George Setta said he was driving near the Triangle Towne Center Mall when the dump truck in front of him lost part of its load. He said the boulder fell off the back of a dump truck and into his lane.

"It landed right there in the middle of the road and I couldn't go around it.I hit the brakes and all I saw was airbags," he said.

The collision caused major damage to Setta's van --which he used for his delivery business.

Setta said he has insurance, but does not know what the outcome of his claim will be.

The dump truck never stopped and Raleigh police are investigating.
