RALEIGH, N.C. — Donnell Benson, a student at Athens Drive High School, was arrested at Sanderson High School Tuesday morning for carrying a semi-automatic gun on Sanderson's property.
The gun reportedly was stolen.
Benson was confronted by the school resource officer, who made the arrest. He was booked on one count of carrying a weapon on educational property.
Benson did not fire the gun.
Investigators were unclear of Benson's motives Tuesday afternoon. Officers said he was visiting a friend.
