WENDELL, N.C. — Police are investigating a two-bus accident Thursday that involved bus No. 867 from Carver Elementary School and bus No. 1057 from Zebulon Middle School.

There were 35 children on the Carver bus, and two on the Zebulon bus.

The driver of the Carver bus, 43-year-old Vanessa Wilson, was charged with failure to yield for a stop sign.

Kim Baxley, the driver of Zebulon bus, was taken to WakeMed with an injured leg.

One student was taken to the hospital with a minor cut on her head. Five other students said they were hurt, and their parents picked them up.

The remaining children were taken home on a different bus. An assistant principal from Carver also got on that bus, so he could explain what happened to the parents.

The accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Wilson was making a left turn onto 64 Business from Liles-Dean Road, pulling in front of Baxley's bus, which was traveling east on 64 Business and struck Wilson's bus in the intersection.
