WILSON, N.C. — A paramedic has been charged with stealing drugs from Wilson County Emergency Medical Services, authorities said.

Theresa B. Morris, 41, of La Grange, is charged with larceny by employee in connection with the theft of an undisclosed amount of fentanyl citrate, a narcotic similar to morphine, from the EMS, authorities said.

Wilson County EMS began an internal investigation into missing narcotics in September, authorities said.

Morris had been employed as a paramedic in Wilson County since August. She was fired Thursday.
