FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A toddler was killed Sunday while walking along a Fayetteville road.

Police said 2-year-old Malik Moktefi of Wilson was hit by a car while walking alone on Stony Point Road near Brady Road.

According to investigators, the child bent over to pick something up when he was hit by the car driven by Joe Jones II.

Moktefi was pronounced dead at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Jones, who wasa not injured, reportedly was driving 55 miles per hour when he hit Moktefi. There reportedly are no lights on that road, and it was dark.

No charges will be filed against Jones. As of Sunday night, Moktefi's parents had not been charged, either.
