GRANVILLE, N.C. — Thursday's windy weather conditions created a series of problems across the WRAL viewing area.
Fire crews battled an eight-acre forest fire near Oak Hill in Granville County. Authorities said the fire was not a danger to homes or people.
Another fire took place at a mobile home in Sharpsburg near the Nash-Edgecombe County line. Forunately, fire crews got to the mobile home fast enough before the wind carried the flames even farther.
In the mountains, the U.S. Forest Service kicked up the fire alert to moderate Wednesday. Conditions are expected to be especially dry and windy Thursday, increasing the risk of brush fires.
