FALCON, N.C. — When two candidates for the Falcon Board of Commissioners finished in a tie, election officials decided to settle it with a coin toss.
John Gipson and Phillip Walters each had 19 votes. Neither asked for a recount, so election officials tossed a quarter.
There is no word on who called heads or tails, but Gipson won the seat over Walters.
Walters happens to be Gipson's boss at a home improvement store.
