HOKE COUNTY, N.C. — Three Hoke County jail inmates are still on the run Tuesday and county leaders want to make sure incidents like the recent escape do not happen again.
County commissioners decided Monday night to appoint a committee that will decide what improvements are needed at the jail and how much they will cost.
The sheriff says more guards are needed as well as better lighting and additional cameras. So far, commissioners have already spent more than $22,000.
Hector Frausto, Chris Handon, Steven Locklear and John Phillips broke out of the Hoke County jail last Tuesday, using sheets and blankets to drop out of a window. Phillips was recaptured a short time later.
