Two Others Injured In Raleigh Accident; Victim's Brother Speaks Out

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities have learned that two additional people were injured in an accident that claimed the lives of six people.

Coy Woolard and Walter Manning are in the hospital Tuesday morning recovering from injuries. Manning, a student at Campbell University, is listed in serious condition and Woolard is listed in good condition.

The students were on the scene helping people in an earlier accident Saturday night in west Raleigh when they were run down by a van. Six people were killed in the accident.

Larry Veeder, 32, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and DWI.

Dennis Bowes was one of the victims who died. To his younger brother Jason, he was so much more.

"I don't know how to describe how much he meant to me and how this has changed my life this past couple of days," said Jason Bowes, Dennis' brother. "[He was] almost like a father. He took care of me," he said.

Jason Bowes said Dennis was the only family he had.

"My mom died a couple years ago in December. My dad died last October," he said. "I'm going to miss him a lot. I've got to keep doing what he wanted me to do though."

Jason Bowes said Dennis wanted him to get an education. Dennis himself was a graduate of North Carolina State. On the night of the accident, he was on his way back from the N.C. State/Virginia game at Carter-Finley Stadium.
