Wilkinson Funeral
RALEIGH, N.C. — On Monday, mourners said goodbye to a longtime member of the WRAL broadcast family, agriculture reporter Dan Wilkinson.

Hundreds of people filled Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh to pay tribute to Dan's life. Most people said he would perhaps be remembered most for his love of life, family and faith.

"He was probably one of the funniest people I ever knew and he just loved life and just had a sweet spirit about him," said Louise Chamblee, Dan's friend.

Forty-five years of life brought Dan a wealth of friendships, from television anchors to troops of loyal Scouts. They were all there Monday to celebrate his life. But, there is no doubt Dan would have been proud to hear the words of his young daughter, Kaisey.

"My dad was a great person to everyone he met," Kaisey said.

Dan, who died suddenly Thursday at the age of 45, is survived by his parents, his wife, Babs, and his two children, 13-year-old Daniel and 9-year-old Kaisey. Contributions can be made in Dan's name to the Boy Scouts.

His family is still waiting to learn the cause of death. It may be weeks until the autopsy report is back.
