FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County sheriff’s detectives are investigating the deaths of a mother and her two children.

Investigators were called to the home of Faye Johnson Vick, 39, at 711 Foxcroft Drive on Tuesday afternoon. An acquaintance told investigators she became concerned when Vick failed to show up for a scheduled meeting.

Deputies arrived on the scene at about 12:30 p.m. and found Vick and her children; Jason Vick, 2, and Madison Vick, 3 months, inside the house, according to the news release.

Sources tell WRAL that Vick and the children were found dead in the car garage.

At this time, investigators do not suspect outside foul play, authorities said in a news release issued Tuesday afternoon.

Vick’s husband, a Fort Bragg soldier, is stationed overseas, the news release said. He has been notified of the deaths and will be returning to North Carolina as soon as possible.

Erwin Montgomery told WRAL that the Vicks were great neighbors. He said Faye Vick had a bubbly personality and was excited to tell him months ago that she was pregnant with Madison.

"She always gave me a word of encouragement," Montgomery said. "Sometimes, difficult things might occur in my life, and she would always give me a positive attitude. It's really bothering me, because they're both good people."

The bodies were sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Chapel Hill late Tuesday for autopsies. Information about the cause of death might be available as early as Wednesday, authorities said.
