<b>ROCKY MOUNT, N.C.</b> — The trial of a man accused of kidnapping and attempting to kill his own child is under way.

Police say 32-year-old Theodore Pittman Jr. took his infant daughter, Key'ora Battle, from her home and left her to die under an abandoned shed in Rocky Mount.

Battle survived two nights in freezing weather.

If convicted, Pittman could face 20 years to 85 years in prison.
