Orange County May Charge Nonprofit Groups For Use Of School Facilities

Posted Updated

ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. — Money is tight in almost every school district in the Triangle, and Orange County may ask nonprofit groups to pony up to fill the gaps.

Right now, nonprofit groups use school facilities free of charge. The school board is debating a motion to charge the groups a flat fee to cover operating costs.

The fee would depend on what part of the school the group uses.

Officials say a classroom would be cheapest to use while a cafeteria may be the most expensive.
