Fayetteville Child Dies After Being Struck On Bicycle

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 12-year-old boy who was hit by car while riding his bicycle has died from his injuries.

Damien Farris died Thursday at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he had been since being hit on Oct. 16. He had been admitted in critical condition after rescuers performed CPR on him at the accident scene.

The accident happened on Raeford Road near Chilton Drive in Fayetteville. Investigators said Farris was riding a bike when he veered into traffic.

Farris was not wearing a helmet when he crashed through the windshield of the car that hit him.

The Highway Patrol said no charges will be filed against the driver, identified as James Burris of Southern Pines.
