Bankrupt Cemetery To Go To Auction

Posted Updated

SANFORD, N.C. — A judge ruled in bankruptcy court Wednesday that Lee Memory Gardens in Sanford will go to the highest bidder.

Last year, auditors found problems with the cemetery's books. Since then, lawyers have worked to sort out who has paid what, but they say the records are not good enough.

The auction itself is set for Dec. 3 at the cemetery.

The starting bid is expected to be $100,000.
