Raleigh City Council Postpones Vote On Proposed Comedy Club Move

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Members of the Raleigh City Council did not vote Tuesday on a proposal to move a popular Raleigh comedy club.

A city committee recentlyvoted to spend $800,000 to move Charlie Goodnight's Comedy Club, currently located on Morgan Street, to the ground floor of a city-owned downtown parking deck on Wilmington Street near the Raleigh Convention Center and Progress Energy building.

In return for using the location, the city would receive a cut of the comedy club's profits.

City leaders said Charlie Goodnight's and a private investor are discussing a bigger, more up-scale project. City leaders plan to look back on the proposal in about a month.
