Chapel Hill Police Investigate Armed Robbery

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Police in Chapel Hill are investigating an armed robbery at the Timberlyne branch of Wachovia Bank around 9:15 a.m. Friday.

Chapel Hill police said two subjects entered the bank dressed in white jumpsuits that also covered their heads. They wore sunglasses and one of them had some sort of design on one lens. One was wearing a knit cap the other a dark colored baseball cap with a design on the front. Both were wearing gloves of some kind.

Police said they subjects are believed to be black men, approximately 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet in height with average to muscular builds.

The men displayed weapons that were described as chrome- or silver-color handguns. One of the guns may have been a revolver, police said. They were last seen exiting the bank and running toward Weaver Dairy Road.

Police said their vehicle was a small black car; however, the make, model, and style were unknown. The men got away with an undetermined amount of cash.
