RALEIGH, N.C. — Durham novelist Mike Peterson will serve out his life sentence at Nash Correctional Institution in Nash County.

Peterson, who was found guilty of murdering his wife, Kathleeen, completed his diagnostic tests at Central Prison and was transferred Wednesday to Nash Correctional Institution from Central Prison.

Nash Correctional Institution houses approximately 614 adult male inmates in both close- and medium-security environments.

Inmates work in two Correction Enterprises plants. There are 102 inmates assigned to the print plant that does much of the printing for state government agencies. Forty-five inmates work in an optical plant that manufactures eyeglasses for DOC inmates and Medicaid patients.

Inmates also work in a variety of service jobs around the prison.
