Wayne County Considers New Flood Maps

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. — Leaders in Wayne County are mapping out a way to protect neighborhoods from disaster.
Flooding from Hurricane Floyd left many areas under water. Five years late,r the county has new flood maps. The The maps used to determine flood insurance rates for homes. They also show flood-prone areas, where greater building standards may be required.
The public can check out the new maps and make comments Wednesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Wayne County Public Library on East Ash Street.
