Mother Could Be Charged In Fatal Wreck

ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. — Investigators said a mother could face charges in a wreck that killed her child Sunday.

The wreck happened around 3 p.m. between Lumberton and St. Pauls in Robeson County.

According to the state Highway Patrol, the 3-year-old died after Melanie Arceneaux hit a bridge, crossed the center lane and then slammed into another bridge.

The Highway Patrol said Arceneaux was not paying attention and was looking for a CD when she ran into the bridge.

The child's name has not been released.
