Posted Updated

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville City Council candidate Charles Evans is coming clean about past drug use.

Evans is running against incumbent Mable Smith in District 2.

He told WRAL about his prior record of drug possession and embezzlement. Evans said he is revealing his criminal past because he wants voters to have all the facts before they cast their ballots.

The candidate said he has been clean for more than a decade.
