3 Arrested in String of Break-Ins

Sampson County authorities have arrested three suspects in connection with a string of home break-ins in three counties.

Sampson County authorities have arrested three suspects in connection with a string of home break-ins in three counties.

Rosario Chales, 29, of Benson, Jose Harnandez, 30, of Coats, and Homar Perez Chavez, 26, of Benson, face a number of charges including burglary, kidnapping, robbery and conspiracy in Johnston, Sampson and Duplin counties, authorities said.

In Johnston County, the men face a total of 36 charges. Additional charges have been filed in Sampson and Duplin counties, authorities said. Bail for each suspect is set at $1 million.

Sheriff’s deputies made the arrests while conducting a surveillance operation in an area of Sampson County.
