RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh police are investigating a traffic accident involving an officer that happened Friday morning at the intersection of Capital Boulevard and Old Buffalo Road.
According to police, officer Shannon Sweeney was responding to an armed-robbery call at a Kangaroo convenience store, traveling north on Capital with her blue lights on.
Sweeney reportedly went through a red light and did not see an SUV coming toward her cruiser. The SUV driver, identified as William Eatman of Garner, apparently did not see Sweeney, and their two vehicles collided.
Eatman has told WRAL that Sweeney did not have her blue lights on.
Neither Sweeney nor Eatman suffered serious injuries, and neither was transported to the hospital.
Police said no charges have been filed.
