FREMONT, N.C. — The offer is on the table, but there is no deal yet.
The town of Fremont wants Capt. Ben Reid to be its next police chief. He has until next week to decide whether or not he wants the job.
Reid would replace Terry Grant, who was fired last month after a DWI charge.
Reid is 61 years old. He has been with the Fremont Police Department since 1964.
